Melasma & Uneven Pigmentation

Illustrative example, not a client photograph or treatment result.

What you may notice

Melasma often appears as patches of uneven brown or grey-brown colour, commonly on the cheeks, forehead or upper lip.

Possible contributing factors

Sun exposure and hormonal influences can contribute. Some medicines and irritating products may also play a role; uneven pigmentation is not always melasma.

Options to discuss

Discuss pigment-focused formulas containing tranexamic acid and niacinamide, with consistent sun protection. A selected 4-butylresorcinol peel may also be considered. The plan is adjusted to your skin tone, sensitivity and history; irritation can worsen pigmentation and improvement takes time.
